Agenda-Downtown Whitewater Inc. Organization Committee April 17, 2007 3:30 P.M. Municipal Center Lakefront Meeting Room
Minutes of the Downtown Whitewater, Inc. Organization Committee Meeting-April 17, 2007 WhitewaterMunicipalCenter 312 W. Whitewater Street, Whitewater, WI53190 Members Present-Bill Bowen, Kristine Zaballos, Eric Sobczak and Kevin Brunner Others Present-Exec. Director Allison Lodge Brunner called the meeting to order at 3:30 p.m.
1. Review/Approval of March 20th Meeting Minutes Minutes of March 20th were approved.
2. Review Committee 2007 Objectives The committee reviewed all of its 2007 objectives and made the following changes to these objectives:
4. Discuss Possible New Committee Members Discussion of possible new committee members took place. Chris Welch has declined the invitation to serve and Kevin has contacted Donna Lentz (Associated Bank) and Kim Mc Darrison about possibly serving on this committee.
5. Other Matters Kristine raised the idea of holding another clean sweep downtown and suggested combining it with the Whitewater Creek clean-up scheduled for April 28th. Both Kevin and Allison are out of town that day but both expressed their interest in organizing this type of activity again. Kevin indicated that he would contact Jorge Islas Martinez of Sigma America to see if this group would be interested in participating in a downtown cleanup. It was the consensus that another Saturday this spring for this event should be pursued. Brunner announced that he and Treasurer Jon Kachel will be producing quarterly “actual to budget” expenditure reports and that the Organization committee should be reviewing these on a periodic basis and then reporting to the full board any budgetary concerns. Eric Sobczak that due to his resignation from his position at the First Citizen’s Bank he would be resigning from the committee.

- Fundraising
- Allison will develop a list of new downtown businesses/property owners
- Organization committee will sponsor a “Downtown Cook-Out” on May 31st from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Cravath Lakefront Center and invite all downtown business/property owners to attend
- Bill will be in charge of food-he will contact new downtown meat/cheese shop owner, Dan Malone, to provide the meats
- Allison will send postcard invites
- There will be a “soft sell” at thus event to get members in downtown organization
- Recruit, Train and Recognize Volunteers
- Welcome packet for all volunteers will be developed by Kristine in September
- Provide Internal Communications
- Allison and Eric will be responsible for developing and publishing a brochure for Downtown Whitewater Inc. by October
- Provide External Communications
- Publish quarterly rather than monthly newsletters with two to be published this year in late summer and late fall
- Develop and support a Downtown Whitewater website that would incorporate a WIKI page that would contain committee minutes and agendas
- Combine the objectives of writing six press releases and 12 monthly newspaper columns into writing monthly topical press releases and then also posting on DWI web site-Kristine and Allison will take the lead on this objective
