Promotions Committee Meeting Minutes
March 13, 2007
Members Present: Bill, Julian, Bridget, Linda, Marty, Emma Lou, De, Shane, Ben, Jill
Taste of Whitewater:
Shane, Julian, and Therese went to the Downtown businesses and presented the idea about Taste of Whitewater. There was a positive response but more detail regarding electricity and such was needed. Shane and Julian will create a detailed proposal before the next meeting to present to the Downtown businesses to clear up any questions they may have. The patrons also like the idea of a fall event. Julian will be out of town over the summer, but will be available via email and/or phone. Shane is taking a marketing course over the summer so he will be available to plan for this event. The date for this event has been set for September 8, 2007 from 3pm-7pm. It was decided that this would be the best time to encourage the people attending the Warhawk Football game & hopefully they will attend. The event will take place on Main St. Shane and Julian will go to City Hall & ask about the possibility of a liquor license for the event and Bill will help to get Main St closed for the event. The event will include one band, a beer tent/garden, and as many food and drink vendors as possible. The vendors will be spread out on Main St as it will be closed from 3-7pm. Shane knows someone from Budweiser and will see if they are willing to sponsor the event and band if a liquor license is granted.
Cinco De Mayo; Jorge from Sigma America has already planned a Cinco De Mayo Festival for May 5. There will be a dance and possibly a parade. The dance will be held at the Teen Center. De will talk to them for more details and ask if they would like any help with the event. Another unknown group is also doing something for May 5 also.
