Tamara Brodnicki hired as new Executive Director Tami Brodnicki, currently Program Manager of the Belvidere, Illinois Main Street Center, will be replacing Allison Lodge, who served as Downtown Whitewater Inc’s first Executive Director after Whitewater was accorded Wisconsin Main Street status by Governor Jim Doyle in 2006. Brodnicki has worked for the Belvidere Main Street Program for the past four years and before that served on the Belvidere Main Street Board of Directors for two years. She worked previously in retail sales and management for over ten years and currently serves on the Boone County Arts Council and is an artist herself, painting children's murals.
Tami states “I am excited to join Downtown Whitewater and work with the board, downtown stakeholders, city staff, elected officials, and the residents to make Whitewater’s downtown a great place to live, work and play. I’ve been very impressed by the strong commitment to historic preservation and downtown revitalization that everyone seems to have.” Join Downtown Whitewater in welcoming Tami at an informal gathering on Monday, September 24, from 2 to 4 PM at the Double Dip Deli! Whitewater’s finds the “Taste” very tasty indeed The first-ever Taste of Whitewater took place on Saturday, September 15, at Cravath Lakefront Park. Great weather combined with an array of local bites, microbrews, and entertainment such as a lumberjack show and live music to please the crowd. Thanks to the Royal Purple, UW-W Leadership, and DWI's Promotions Team for all the hard work! Sunday at the Stable Join us on Sunday, September 23, from 2 to 5 PM to witness the progress on the historic Stone Stable first hand and to enjoy free horse-drawn wagon rides! Look for food vendors, a farmer’s market, and historic displays on site as well, just a short distance from the Depot Museum, which will be open for viewing. Bring a letter for the time capsule, to be opened in 2107! For more information contact Ginny Coburn at (262) 473-2822 or go to www.downtownwhitewater.com. Snap Fitness opening in December Toppers Pizza owner Scott Gittrich announces that Snap Fitness, a 24-hour fitness center chain based in Minnesota, will open a center in the renovated Market Square complex on Center Street, adjacent to Binning & Dickens Insurance. Additional space will be filled by the Toppers retail site, which will relocate from its present location at the corner of Milwaukee and Wisconsin Streets. Two smaller spaces are still available in the complex. The new fitness facility, which combines staffed hours with 24-hour access based on a keyed system, is slated to open in December. Nearby Snap Fitness facilities include Fort Atkinson and a soon-to-open center in Elkhorn. For more information, go to www.snapfitness.com, where you'll find the Whitewater location listed as "Coming soon!" on the Club Locator page. Other updates -
